If you're a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, you can't go more than 10 minutes without hearing a QB rumor.
Everyone from Mason Rudolph to Russell Wilson has been floated as potential candidates for the Steelers starting QB position in 2024, and often with credible reporting.
But according to one of the better GM's over the last decade, Pittsburgh has their answer in Kenny Pickett:
Pickett's Job in 2024
“They’re all-in on Kenny Pickett," Former Vikings GM Rick Spielman told The 33rd Team. "So don’t expect the Pittsburgh Steelers to go up and trade for one of the three big quarterbacks in this draft or be very active in free agency, signing a Kirk Cousins or maybe trading for a Justin Fields. I think they’re going to go with Kenny Pickett, see if they can develop under Arthur Smith in this power-style offense that the Pittsburgh Steelers are going to run.”
Now, I have believed that Pittsburgh will run it back with Pickett since the end of last season. But hypothesizing based on my understanding is vastly different than one of the most well-connected people in football literally claiming that Pittsbugh is all in on Kenny Pickett.
And to be frank, that makes the most sense. To think Pittsburgh would just give up on Pickett before he even reaches his third year just doesn't mesh with what the team does and never will.
So right or wrong, it looks like Kenny Pickett will be the starting QB for the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2024.
