Mere hours after the Steelers introduced QB Russell Wilson to Pittsburgh, the team is saying goodbye to former first-round pick Kenny Pickett.
As first reported by Josina Anderson of CBS Sports, Pickett is being traded to the Philadelphia Eagles:
Steelers Offload Kenny Pickett
The Steelers have turned two fourth-round picks into two third-rounders after acquiring the 98th overall pick and multiple late-round picks in the 2025 NFL Draft in exchange for Pickett and a fourth-rounder in this year's draft.
A first-round pick in 2022, Pickett was brought in to be the next franchise QB after the retirement of Ben Roethlisberger.
Things didn't go to plan however, with Pickett regressing in his second season with the team in 2023, and the team opting to stick with backup QB Mason Rudolph even after Pickett was cleared from ankle surgery.
With Jalen Hurts cemented as the starter in Philadelphia, Pickett will now try and re-brand himself as a backup on one of the league's best teams.
