The Pittsburgh Steelers have an uncanny way of doing things in the business of football.
Whether it be re-uniting brothers, signing and drafting legacy players, or just being good guys, they view team building as more than the shrewd business it's made out to be.
And following one of the better birthday gifts you're going to see, Pittsburgh has done it again:
Joey Porter Jr. Signs on His Birthday

After waiting on Tennessee Titans rookie quarterback Will Levis to sign his deal, Porter Jr. finally put pen to paper with Pittsburgh just as camp started, making it not only perfect timing but surely the gift of a lifetime:
"I feel great," said Porter Jr. when asked how he felt after signing. "I got it on my birthday. It was a great feeling. Me and my family celebrated a little bit, but now it's time to work."
Not only did Porter Jr. just sign a deal that will give him life-changing money, he did so with the team his potential Hall of Fame father played for, all the while setting precedent for second-round picks.
The reason it took so long for Porter's deal to get done was that Will Levis had yet to sign his rookie deal. Seeing that Levis was the 33rd pick and Porter the 32nd, Porter's representation wanted to make sure they one-uped Levis' fourth-year guarantees, something they accomplished.
So now Joey Porter Jr. can focus fully on what's going on in Latrobe, with the contract scenario behind him, and done in a memorable fashion. The bigger question is whether or not Porter can break into the starting lineup, something he has to prove over the next three weeks.
But if anyone is going to compete, it's the son of Joey Porter, meaning I expect a fully engaged, and rowdy Porter Jr. in camp.
