The San Francisco 49ers' victory over the Seattle Seahawks in Week 14 was far from perfect, and they have some injury worries coming out of their 28-16 triumph.
San Francisco's defense held Seattle under 20 points despite seeing several players injured, including one on its first series.
Number one cornerback Charvarius Ward was lost to a groin injury on Seattle's opening drive of the game. He did not return, and he was joined on the sideline by defensive tackle Javon Hamstring, who left the game with a hamstring issue and did not re-enter.
Linebackers Dre Greenlaw (hip) and Oren Burks (knee) both returned to the game after suffering injuries, with the 49ers now facing something of a nervous wait to find out when Ward and Hargrave will be available again.
Asked if any of the injuries could be long-term, head coach Kyle Shanahan replied: "Ward not sure, we just have to look into it because he’s had stuff like it in his past so we’re not sure.
"Oren was able to still play. Hargrave was a hamstring so I’m assuming he pulled it but we’ve got to find out for sure, you never know with the D-Linemen how long he’ll be out on that but we’ll know a little bit more tomorrow."
Losing either Ward or Hargrave for any length of time would be a huge blow to the 49ers down the stretch as they fight for the one seed in the NFC.
Ward is enjoying an outstanding second season with the 49ers and came into the game with a league-leading 19 pass breakups. He added another on a near-interception of Drew Lock before being forced from the game.
Hargrave, meanwhile, has six sacks in his first season with San Francisco, one which has seen him rejuvenate the 49ers' interior pass rush alongside Arik Armstead.
Yet with Armstead having missed the win over the Seahawks because of foot and knee injuries, an absence for Hargrave would leave the 49ers very thin at what has become an area of strength for San Francisco once again.
