The Kyle Shanahan and John Lynch era has been a tremendously successful one for the 49ers, and it isn't ending any time soon.

San Francisco announced on Friday that it has signed head coach Shanahan and general manager Lynch to multi-year contract extensions.

Though the 49ers have not won a Super Bowl during their tenure, Shanahan and Lynch have overseen one of the more impressive turnarounds in recent NFL history.

The 49ers had arguably the worst roster in football when they took over in 2017, but the combination of impressive team-building from Shanahan and Lynch and the astute coaching of the former has seen San Francisco established as a perennial contender.

San Francisco has compiled a 55-46 regular-season record in that time, reaching the postseason three times. The 49ers went to the Super Bowl in the 2019 season and reached the NFC Championship Game in 2021 and 2022.

The Niners' 30-12 win over the Giants on Thursday improved their record to 3-0 to start 2023, providing a further illustration of their status as one of the Super Bowl favorites.

And 49ers ownership clearly believes the partnership of Shanahan and Lynch is one that will eventually bring at least one championship to the Bay Area.
