The 49ers will cut their roster down to 53 players ahead of the regular season by Tuesday's 4 p.m. EST deadline.
Once that arduous task is completed, San Francisco will then start filling out its practice squad. The practice squad is made up of 16 players, but the Niners get an extra spot for tackle Alfredo Gutierrez, who is part of the NFL's International Player Pathway Program.
The practice squad is often an overlooked area of the team building process but, with its players often called up for gameday action, it has become of increasing importance.
For the 49ers, the practice squad allows them to preserve an extra layer of depth to supplement a loaded roster, and here we try to predict who could make the cut in 2023.
