Defensively speaking, Seattle has been able to find some decent options that are clawing to get the unit back to a respectable place, and it would help even more if guys like Jamal Adams could play up to their potential and stay healthy.
The Adams era in Seattle has been extremely disappointing so far. In three years, Adams has played just 25 games, and only one of those years saw Adams play up to the level that caused Seattle to pursue him in the first place.
That can't happen any longer.
With two years left on his deal and not much to speak of during the first half of this contract, Adams absolutely has to bounce back in a major way this season if Seattle is to get better defensively.
Also, it is worth noting that Adams is doing himself no favors in this category if he wants to maintain his current role or wants to earn another massive contract.
The expectations are simply higher for a player as talented and expensive as Adams. Constant injuries and somewhat one-dimensional play (even for a guy that plays multiple positions) isn't how this team gets better.
Simply put, it is in the best interest of everyone involved if Jamal Adams can come back from his season-ending injury last year and turn back the clock to his Jets days.
The pressure is starting to build. At this rate, it could get messy sooner rather than later.
