The Chiefs are one win away from bringing home their third-ever Lombardi Trophy and their second in the Patrick Mahomes era. Coming into the season, many people doubted the Chiefs. They traded away Tyreek Hill and seemed ready to take a step back.
After just a couple of weeks, they showed that they were still the team to beat in the NFL. The Chiefs secured the top seed in the AFC and looked like the best team in the conference all year.
Mahomes also proved that he doesn't need Hill to be the best quarterback in the league. He made the Pro Bowl, was named a 1st team All-Pro and is the favorite to win MVP. He exceeded everyone's expectations yet again and solidified himself as the best QB in the NFL.
The playoffs have also gone smoothly for them so far. They took care of the Jaguars in round two despite Mahomes getting banged up and missing some time. Then, they took care of business against the Bengals. Mahomes led the Chiefs on a masterful drive to set up the game-winning field goal with three seconds remaining.
There is no shortage of storylines in this game. Andy Ried was the head coach of the Eagles for 14 seasons before coming to Kansas City. Travis and Jason Kelce will become the first brothers to face off in a Super Bowl. However, the headlines will still be dominated by the incredible quarterback matchup.
Mahomes and Hurts were arguably the two best QBs all year, and we will see them duel it out on the biggest stage.
The matchup to watch in this one will be the Eagles pass rush vs. the Chiefs offensive line. The Eagles have been able to get pressure all year and will look to do the same against the Chiefs. Luckily, Mahomes is well-equipped to handle that pressure and has shown he can win no matter the circumstance.
The Eagles have built a better roster, but the Chiefs have the better quarterback. In the end, I think Mahomes is too good to lose and will take home his second ring.
