Tennessee started SEC Tournament play on Thursday afternoon with a 70-55 win over the Ole Miss Rebels.
Friday afternoon the Vols get a rematch against the Missouri Tigers in the SEC Tournament Quarterfinals at Bridgestone Arena.
The Vols are currently projected as a No. 3 or No. 4 seed in the NCAA Tournament. They could use a strong showing in the SEC Tournament to either jump to a No. 2 seed or ensure that they don't fall below a No. 4 seed.
It won't be easy for Tennessee to make a deep run in either the SEC Tournament or the NCAA Tournament as they'll be without starting point guard Zakai Zeigler for the rest of the season.
Zeigler tore his ACL in the Vols' win against Arkansas last week.
Tennessee has yet to make it past the Sweet 16 under head coach Rick Barnes. Without Zeigler, there's a good chance that trend continues this season.
Tennessee got 35 total points from senior leaders Josiah Jordan-James and Santiago Vescovi in the win over Ole Miss. They'll need more buckets to get past Missouri Friday afternoon, who upset the Vols at home last month with a game-winning buzzer beater.
