Tennessee showed off its high-powered offense last week with a 69-point effort against Chattanooga. The Volunteers' passing game is one of the most explosive in the nation led by quarterback Nico Iamaleava and his impressive cast of wide receivers. James Pearce Jr. is perhaps the top pass-rusher in all of college football, but there are question marks in the Tennessee secondary with five new starting defensive backs.
NC State is a steady program, having won at least eight games in six of the last seven seasons. New quarterback Grayson McCall should elevate the Wolfpack's offense this season, along with portal transfers tight end Justin Joly and receiver Noah Rogers. However, their improved offense comes with a tradeoff for a declined defense after losing stud linebacker Payton Wilson to the NFL.
I can't imagine NC State's offense keeping up with Tennessee's for four quarters, making it a safe bet for the Volunteers to cover the 7.5 point spread. I do think the Wolfpack will put up points, making the over on the 60.5-point total enticing.
