Game 1 of this series went about the way we anticipated it would. The Nuggets were just too much for the Timberwolves. The Nuggets took care of business at home, winning 109-80, and the game was never really close in the second half.

Jamal Murray led the game in scoring, finishing with 24 points, eight rebounds and eight assists in his first playoff game since the 2020 bubble when he was playing at a crazy high level.

Nikola Jokic had a quiet game scoring the basketball, finishing with just 13 points. However, he was still impactful as he had a +15 in the +/- category, grabbed 14 rebounds and dished out six assists

The Timberwolves defense did a pretty solid job on the Nuggets offense, holding them to just 40% from the field, but it was the Wolves offense that really struggled. The Wolves shot just 37% from the field and shot just 9-16 from the free-throw line.

If the Timberwolves are going to want any chance of stealing a game on the road, they are going to need their prized off-season acquisition Rudy Gobert to step up. It has been a tumultuous season for Gobert in his first season in Minnesota, highlighted by him punching teammate Kyle Anderson in the final regular season game. 

That incident got him suspended for the first play-in game, in a loss to the Lakers. When Gobert was on the floor for the Wolves in game one he was a game-worst -28 in just 26 minutes.

It will take a lot for Minnesota to steal a game from the Nuggets in this series. Just to put the cherry on top, road teams have an awfully tough time adjusting to the altitude in Denver.
