Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have dealt with a ton of speculation over the offseason. The most recent bout was the NFL world wondering just what exactly was going on with Brady to where he took 11 days off from training camp.
Brady was asked about it after the Buccaneers' 27-10 loss to the Indianapolis Colts on Saturday night. And boy, did he give the quote of quotes.
"I'm 45-years-old, man," Brady told reporters. "There's a lot of sh— going on."
The seven-time Super Bowl champ didn't give any insight toward his absence, but his quote is spot-on.
Anyone who is within 10 years of Brady's age -on either side of the spectrum- that also has substantial responsibilities knows exactly what Brady is talking about. A lot of regular people can barely handle balancing family life and personal life with a 40-hour/week job.
Just imagine if you were Brady: married to a universally-known supermodel, multiple kids, playing quarterback in the NFL, keeping up with numerous business ventures – all the while keeping himself in the conversation as one the game's best quarterbacks, currently.
Whew. I'm worn out just from typing that sentence.
In all seriousness, it's clear Brady wants to be a part of the Buccaneers organization, even if he has the famous line that he's not truthful about "90% of the things" he says publicly. It was easy to see how that 10% of honesty was applied during Saturday night's postgame presser.
"It's just been an amazing experience for me to come to this place and be supported as I have for a long period time," said Brady. "I read all these stories about all these places I was supposed to go or could've gone and I'm like, 'I was only going to go to one place.' – which was here.
"I think this whole organization knows that and all the conversations that we've had over a period of time [shows] I chose the right place for me … I'm very grateful to everybody for allowing me to come down here and experience this part of my football life. Which, you know I look back and it would probably be incomplete had I not had it."
Regardless, the preseason and the offseason is over. Which means real football is right around the corner.
And you know Brady and the Buccaneers cannot wait to get out on the gridiron in an official capacity.
