Update: Tranquill has officially been ruled out of the game due to a concussion.

The Kansas City Chiefs are facing some early attrition on "Sunday Night Football" against the Green Bay Packers.

On the opening defensive series, the team's current starting MIKE linebacker Drue Tranquill suffered an apparent head injury. He was face down on the field after taking a knee to the head from a Packers offensive player. He was ultimately able to get up and walk off the field under his own power.

After a brief stay in the medical tent, Tranquill walked to the locker room attended to by the training staff. The team quickly updated fans on social media, explaining that Tranquill was being evaluated for a concussion.

Tranquill wears a neck collar that is designed to help prevent concussion, but in this particular situation, it's understandable why it did not work.

Keep in mind, that the Chiefs are already without LB Nick Bolton, who remains on injured reserve with a wrist injury. They have five linebackers on the 53-man roster outside of Tranquill, but it was 2022 undrafted free agent Jack Cochrane who came in to replace him.

We'll keep you updated on his status moving forward.
