The Kansas City Chiefs have quite the lengthy injury list heading into Week 3 against the Chicago Bears.
Speaking to media members ahead of Wednesday's practice, Chiefs HC Andy Reid confirmed that five players would not participate to start the week. One of those injuries might wind up being significant too.
"As far as the injuries go, Richie James, knee, has an MCL," Reid began. "He won't practice today. (Isiah) Pacheco has a hamstring contusion, he won't practice. It's not a tear. (Kadarius) Toney has got the sprained toe. (Nick) Bolton and Willie (Gay Jr.) have a sprained ankle and a quad contusion (respectively). They're working through those. The latter two did the walkthrough, but no practice today."
All five players mentioned by Reid are expected to miss practice on Wednesday. Bolton and Gay Jr. both finished Week 2's game against the Jacksonville Jaguars after suffering their injuries. Reid also mentioned after the game that Toney played in most of the plays he was supposed to.
It sounds like the time off on Wednesday is merely maintenance on minor injuries for the majority of the players. However, Richie James' injury might be more significant.
"Most of them are just day-to-day," Reid said. "Richie might be a little bit longer. Yeah, possibly."
Check back later for the latest injury report from practice:
| Player | Injury | Participation |
|---|---|---|
LB Nick Bolton | Ankle | DNP |
LB Willie Gay Jr. | Quad | DNP |
WR Richie James | Knee | DNP |
RB Isiah Pacheco | Hamstring | DNP |
WR Kadarius Toney | Toe | DNP |
CB L’Jarius Sneed | Knee | LP |
RT Jawaan Taylor | Shoulder | FP |
CB Nic Jones | Hand | FP |
WR Justin Watson | Ankle | FP |
Observations:
- Each of Bolton, Gay, James, Pacheco, and Toney missed practice as Reid indicated they would.
- Sneed continues to be limited due to his knee injury, expect this to be an ongoing thing throughout the season
- Two new additions to the injury report in Taylor and Watson, but both participated in full, so expect these to be minor in nature.
