Kansas City Chiefs LG Nick Allegretti didn't just redeem himself in Super Bowl LVIII, but he also proved to be a tough son of a gun.

According to a report from NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, Allegretti played through the majority of the Super Bowl against the 49ers with a torn UCL in one of his elbows. Allegretti played 79 offensive snaps in place of All-Pro LG Joe Thuney who was ruled out of the game with a severe pectoral strain.

Pelissero says that an MRI on Tuesday revealed that Allegretti suffered a full UCL tear. Allegretti tore it in the second quarter of the game.

Had Allegretti left the game, second-year OL Mike Caliendo would have been the next man up. The team would have been down to their third-string starter at left guard. Allegretti toughed the injury out and played through it against one of the toughest defensive lines in football.

What would compel Allegretti to play through such an injury? He was a starter for the embattled Super Bowl LV offensive line that lost to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He was determined to make sure that he and the rest of his teammates did not feel that sense of defeat following a Super Bowl ever again.
