Just 24 hours ago, the Kansas City Chiefs were set to enter the 2024 season with a wide receiver group of Rashee Rice, Xavier Worthy, Hollywood Brown, and a few other guys who still have a lot to prove. Now, that group has changed just a bit.

The Chiefs, always proactive, have been addressing some issues this offseason, particularly with Rashee Rice off the field. While we're still uncertain about the potential suspension, one thing is clear-the Chiefs are not content with the status quo. They are determined to enter the 2024 season with a wide receiver group that inspires confidence, and they would be even more determined without Rice.

So, in a strategic move, the Chiefs have decided to bring back a familiar face. According to Jordan Schultz of Bleacher Report, the Chiefs are re-signing Super Bowl hero Mecole Hardman, a decision that speaks volumes about the team's planning and foresight for the 2024 season.

Hardman caught the walk-off touchdown in the last Super Bowl with Patrick Mahomes throwing the ball to him. And you may remember him being bombarded by the team after the play.

Hardman's re-signing is not just about his familiarity with the offense, it's about the potential he brings. If the team faces any setbacks, he's ready to step in and provide some production. But more importantly, the Chiefs are signing him for the new return rules.

The new return rules will set up teams to have more success in the return game, which means the potential to score more. Hardman has done that a few times throughout his career. And, while he has had his fair share of mistakes receiving kicks and punts, the Chiefs feel confident enough to run with him in 2024.

The move is a one-year deal. Chiefs fans will get to see the hero from the last Super Bowl win back in red.
