In 2018, when the dynasty and Patrick Mahomes era began for the Kansas City Chiefs, the team was screwed over by not getting a chance to have the ball in overtime against Tom Brady and the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship Game.
The Chiefs asked for an off-season rule change, but it was denied.
Then, the Chiefs beat the Buffalo Bills in overtime of the divisional round game a few years ago in what is now known as the "13 seconds" game. The Bills requested a rule change, and this year it was granted. The Super Bowl the Chiefs just won was the first year the overtime rules changed. It just so happened that the Chiefs won with the rules this time.
But, now that the Chiefs won and the rules helped them, the national media wants the rule to go back. We didn't hear this when the former rules were working against the Chiefs. However, in five years, you win a third Super Bowl, and everyone is against you.
"The new overtime rule in the playoffs is nonsense," Tiki Barber said. "To make the clock mean nothing is nonsense. The clock has to end the game."
Here is the deal, Mr. Barber – I get that you are upset, but the new playoff rules never even came into play. The 49ers scored a field goal, and the Chiefs still had the clock in play. There were still three seconds left on the clock when the Chiefs scored the game-winning touchdown.
And, Mr. Barber, the clock has to be a factor at some point. If both teams keep scoring field goals, the game won't end. But that's neither here nor there.
The Chiefs won another Super Bowl, and now more media are upset, trying to change the rules.

Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes both played almost flawlessly, and it is a shame that this matchup came as early as the divisional round because […]
