Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy's contract expires next month.
Bieniemy, a New Orleans native who has been on Kansas City's staff since 2013, has interviewed for numerous head coaching jobs over the last several offseasons.
But despite leading one of the best offenses in the NFL, Bieniemy has yet to land a head coaching gig.
There's some speculation that Bieniemy could leave KC for another offensive coordinator job. The thought is that Bieniemy could "prove" himself by not coaching alongside Andy Reid.
If Bieniemy leaves, the Chiefs will obviously need a new offensive coordinator.
Mike Kafka, who served as Kansas City's quarterbacks coach from 2018 to 2021, would've been a great option. But he recently became the offensive coordinator for the Buffalo Bills.
With Kafka marked off the list, there are two options that make sense for Kansas City if Bieniemy leaves.
One option is already on staff — wide receivers coach Joe Bleymaier.
Bleymaier has been with the Chiefs since 2016. From 2018-2020, Bleymaier was an assistant quarterbacks coach/passing game analyst for Kansas City.
ESPN suggested this week that Bleymaier could be in line to take over if Bieniemy leaves.
Another option suggested this week by ESPN is recently fired Chicago Bears head coach Matt Nagy.

Nagy was fired by the Bears this offseason after going 34-31 in four seasons. His only losing season was in 2021.
The former Deleware standout was Reid's offensive coordinator in Kansas City from 2016 to 2017. A reunion would certainly make a lot of sense.
We'll see how this plays out in the coming days. Bieniemy has a big decision to make. And so do the Chiefs, if he leaves.
I think Nagy would be the right choice. He has more experience and he's a known commodity when it comes to calling plays.
