News broke on Wednesday morning that the Kansas City Chiefs were working to trade six-time Pro-Bowl wide receiver Tyreek Hill to either the Miami Dolphins or the New York Jets.
Not long after that report, the Chiefs officially traded Hill to the Dolphins.
Hill is receiving a four-year deal worth $120 million with Miami.
There are some disputes on Hill's actual new contract number, with this report from Tom Pelissero also out there.
So what did Kansas City get in return for trading their star wide receiver?
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Chiefs will get five draft picks from the Dolphins.
- 2022 first round (No. 29 overall)
- 2022 second round (No. 50 overall)
- 2022 fourth round (Dolphins have two fourth round picks)
- 2023 fourth round
- 2023 sixth round
That's not a bad haul for a player that Kansas City decided they couldn't afford. I think it would've been wiser to hold onto Hill for one more season, place the franchise tag him, and then trade him. But the Chiefs clearly believed they could get more out of Hill now before he turns 29 next spring.
