Why the Kansas City Chiefs will be okay without Tyrann Mathieu
The Kansas City Chiefs have gone through things this off-season that not a lot of people, if anyone, could have predicted. The Kansas City Chiefs have gone through things this off-season that not a lot of people, if anyone, could have predicted. If you would have said a few years ago that going into the 2022-2023 NFL season, the Kansas City Chiefs would no longer have Tyreek Hill and Tyrann Mathieu, I'd say you were crazy.
However, both of those things did happen. While the Tyreek Hill situation was more mind-blowing and surprising -and it caught just about everyone off-guard- it isn't the most important one.
Yes, the Chiefs lost a game breaker in Hill. Yes, the Chiefs lost the fastest player in football. However, they also lost the heart and soul of their defense. This is something that is not easily replaceable. But, fans shouldn't stress too much. The Kansas City Chiefs will be fine for this main reason.
Kansas City is losing a lot in Mathieu, but fans shouldn't be worried
They should celebrate Mathieu's time in KC, instead. Mathieu accomplished a lot as a Chief, and I think that this article shouldn't be a time to dwell on the life with Mathieu. Instead, we should celebrate everything Tyrann Mathieu has done for Kansas City, including helping bring this team a championship.
Before he got here, the Chiefs defense was a mess. Bob Sutton did not really look like he knew what he was doing. 2019 was a year we will never forget, and fans should never forget why.
While yes, things are a little hectic in Kansas City right now, the future will be clear soon. The Chiefs will be okay, and fans should have faith that Brett Veach knows what he is doing. I mean, he did draft Patrick Mahomes for crying out loud.
The draft is still to come, and the Chiefs have only had this many draft picks one other time since the draft was reduced to seven rounds in 1993. All of the things fans are worrying about will probably be addressed in the draft, especially defensively.
The Chiefs will be fine with Justin Reid, who is a young big safety, that likes to play physically. While it won't be the same not seeing the Honey Badger in the defensive backfield, there are still great things to come for the Chiefs.
