The Cincinnati Bengals returned to practice Sunday afternoon in front of hundreds of fans, and below an unidentified drone.
Spotted by CLNS Media's Mike Petraglia, the drone was hovering over the Bengals' practice fields towards the start of practice.
There's no better time to drum up extraterrestrial conspiracies now that aliens have essentially been confirmed by the US government. But we're pretty sure whoever was operating the drone was indeed from Earth.
The issue is that according to Director of Player Personnel Duke Tobin, the drone didn't belong to the Bengals.
A mischievous fan wanting attention, or perhaps a future opponent putting in some illegal scouting? Whatever the case may be, it's sketchy.
Probable illegal activities aside, it was a productive practice for the Bengals. The only partial negative was learned late as offensive line coach Frank Pollack revealed starting right guard Alex Cappa is dealing with a "strain" and was held out of team drills because of the ailment, which Pollack reiterated was not serious by any means.
Chidobe Awuzie has been used to not participating in 11-on-11 work, but got a taste of it for the first time this camp as the team slowly reintegrates him into a full workload. Awuzie has been off the PUP list for nearly two weeks now, but the Bengals have been in no rush to make him go 100% just yet.
Cincinnati will practice once more tomorrow afternoon before welcoming the Green Bay Packers into town Wednesday for a solo joint practice. The Bengals and Packers will face off in Week 1 of the preseason on Friday.
