In a recent interview, Northwestern offensive tackle Peter Skoronski said it would be a dream to suit up and play for the Chicago Bears. Despite being a Chicago native he is a Packers fan. This is due to his grandfather playing for the great Coach Lombardi. His fandom wouldn't get in the way of a potential fit with the Bears, so let's explore that possibility.

The Bears pick at number one overall, with their next pick coming in the second round, at 56 overall. This does not put them in a position to select Skoronski. A selection on Skoronski would require a trade back. Now this possibility is not out of the question, as this draft presents viable options at QB teams would want to come up and secure.

Let's say the Bears do trade back and pick up a new pick in the range of the the teens. Does the selection of Skoronski warrant consideration? Let's take a look.

Strengths: Skoronski is a very good mover in space, his 10-yard split should be exceptional. Being a good mover is crucial for the outside zone scheme the Bears run. He has good footwork in his pass sets, and displays plenty of power.

Weaknesses: The first one that mainly stands out is his arm length. Skoronski played tackle in college, but due to his arm length he will likely be viewed as a guard. This concern has shown itself on film before.

He is not advanced in his pass sets yet. He does not display techniques such as a snatch trap. This will need refinement. Needs to be more consistent at displacing defenders hands.

All in all Skoronski's dream could very well be a great fit, however it would require some work on the Bears end to make a reality.
