One of the former first-round picks of the Cincinnati Bengals is calling it a career.

Wide receiver John Ross, who the Bengals drafted in 2017, is retiring after being placed on the reserve/retired list by the Kansas City Chiefs.

Ross was plagued with knee, shoulder, and injuries throughout his career that never allowed him to consistently perform. He did most of his work during his four seasons with the Bengals as he racked up 733 yards and 10 touchdowns on 51 receptions.

In 2021, Ross played for the New York Giants and amassed 224 yards and a touchdown on 11 receptions. After missing the 2022 season, Ross signed a reserve/future contract with the Chiefs back in January.

Ross had tons of buzz coming out of college after being named Pac-12 Player of the Year and a first-team All-American, and then took it to another level with his blazing 40-yard dash time. However, his body just never allowed him to be great in the NFL.
