Bengals make up for loss at key position
Cincinnati makes a much-needed signing.
The Cincinnati Bengals suffered major blows at safety by losing Jessie Bates and Vonn Bell.
On Friday, they took a step in rectifying that problem by signing safety, Nick Scott, to a three-year deal worth $12 million.
Scott, entering his fifth season, was a seventh-round draft pick in 2019 of the Los Angeles Rams. Scott did most of his work on special teams in his first two seasons in L.A. (logged 710 snaps to just 208 on defense).
When the Rams won the Super Bowl in 2021, Scott was a rotational defensive back and amassed 47 tackles, two interceptions, and four passes defended. Last season, was Scott’s first year as a starter for the Rams, he registered 86 tackles and two interceptions while playing 984 snaps (16 starts).
Bengals defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo now has a nice new toy that has plenty of potential to remain a quality starting safety.
