You know, heroes that wear capes and take down villains.
Well, if the Alabama Crimson Tide can close out the season the way they started (3-0), then QB Jalen Milroe be donning a cape in Crimson & White, as his superpowers were on full display against the LSU Tigers:
Jalen Milroe Breaks Alabama Record For Most QB Rushing TDs in a Season
Not only did Milroe break the Tide QB rushing TD record held by Jalen Hurts but he added two more against the Tigers, going for four rushing TDs and 185 yards on only 12 carries. Averaging over 15 yards a run was thanks in large part to his game-sealing explosive play, which just so happened to also be a personal record:
"Well, I think there's a lot of other guys that helped him [Milroe] get to those spots where we're ahead of the chains," said HC Kalen DeBoer of Milroe's record breaking night. "A lot of smaller gains get you into positions where your whole playbook is available to you. And obviously, he's got a superpower when it comes to running the football. You can see him not just be a guy that gets first downs, but finishes in the end zone. And so him doing what he did early on, you know, just really kind of got the ball rolling there. And, you know, [Milroe] made the throws that were timely when needed."
For Milroe, it was one of the more impressive nights in a Tide career that will rival some of the best signal callers to play at the Capstone when he's all said and done. It's clear that if teams are going to play star WR Ryan Willaims the way LSU did, where they make him a point emphasis and take him out of the game, Milroe is going to make them pay with his legs.
Credit also goes to HC Kalen DeBoer, OC Nick Sheridan, and of course, the other 10 players on the field blocking for him, but Milroe has an uncanny ability to split the seams for six, or burst his way into the edzone.
With only three games remaining (Mercer, Oklahoma, Auburn) Milroe has a chance to not only give the Tide a high seed in the College Football Playoff but to stake his name as QB #1 in April's draft.
