‘I don’t think there’s a wrong answer with Bama’ – Crimson Tide trending quickly for a recruit who could transform the program
HC Kalen DeBoer and the Alabama Crimson Tide making their pitch to elite five-star quarterback.
When it comes to the top quarterbacks in the country, 2027 Baton Rouge (La.) Dunham School signal caller Elijah Haven is as talented as anyone regardless of recruiting class. With this type of talent, a long list of impressive options have presented themselves to Haven and his camp. The Louisiana native has traveled and seen just about everywhere at this point, and the only question remaining is where Haven will end up.
Haven is going to be traveling to Tuscaloosa this weekend to check out the Alabama Crimson Tide home game against the Tennessee Volunteers. While Alabama hasn’t been mentioned much at the top of Haven’s list, they are a rich and historic program that continues to push. Heading into that trip, there is a lot of excitement to see a great atmosphere.
Haven’s father, Kwame, did an interview with Rivals national recruiting analyst Sam Spiegelman ahead of the trip. The Haven family has a lot of great things to say about head coach Kalen DeBoer and the potential fit in Tuscaloosa.
“Coach DeBoer is not soft-spoken,” Haven’s father told Spiegelman. “He has a different approach dealing with him … He’s methodical about how he operates the program. At ‘Bama, they are all plugged in. The way they highlight different things … We talked to (GM) Courtney Morgan, the chaplain. They knew that faith was important to us. We were able to spend time with Coach (Nick) Sheridan, and he checks in all the time. They’re very methodical in their approach, and that staff has pedigree with Michael Penix in the NFL and the playcalling on the Washington staff is intriguing.”
“I don’t think there’s a wrong answer with Bama,” Haven added.
Elijah Haven’s recruiting background
Haven is already considered to be an elite recruit in the 2027 class by many. On the 247 Sports Composite ranking, he is rated as a five-star player in the class. For the 247 Sports individual ranking, Haven is currently pegged as the No. 2 overall player and top quarterback in the county for the 2027 group.
It shouldn’t be much of a surprise that a long list of impressive programs have been pursuing Haven heavily. Some of his top offers so far include the Crimson Tide, Georgia, Michigan, Alabama, LSU, Ole Miss, Miami, Penn State, Florida, Auburn, Florida State, SMU, Texas Tech, Baylor, and Houston, among many others.
As a sophomore back in 2024, Haven put together an incredible season for the Dunham School. The 6-5, 215-pound athlete managed to throw for 3,093 yards and 37 touchdowns, while throwing just seven interceptions. Haven also rushed for another 925 yards and 19 touchdowns on the ground, leading the team to a 14-1 overall record and Louisiana’s Division III Selection state championship.
In seven games as a junior so far, Haven has been even better for Dunham School. Haven has thrown for 1,944 yards and 35 touchdowns against just three interceptions. The talented signal caller has also added another 349 yards and three scores on the ground while averaging 7.3 yards per carry. His dual threat ability is as good as you’ll find in any past recruiting class.
If Alabama is able to close on Haven, it would be a massive victory for Coach DeBoer. Haven is the type of talent that could transform a program for the better. Without being too hyperbolic, he is an extremely special football player.
