For years, the Alabama Crimson Tide has been able to dominate the fertile recruiting ground that is the Cotton State.
Take star WR Ryan Willaims as the most recent example for the Capstone.
But following the state of transition that has overtaken the Crimson and White, many wondered if UA, and more specifically, if Kalen DeBoer could continue their in-state dominance.
Their latest commitment says yes…
Alabama Lands 4 Star EDGE Jamarion Matthews
Nickanemd Juice, Matthews is one of the more sought-after EDGE recruits in the nation with a high level of productivity inside of his 6-3, 240-pound frame. The Junior will be playing his final season of high school in Georgia, but the Harvest, Alabama native had his eyes on UA for years…
“One of my goals was to get an offer from this school, because my grandma was a true Alabama fan and her not being able to watch my high school football career on this earth,” Matthews told Touchdown Alabama. “Me being able to get an offer from one of the biggest college football programs in college football tells me I’m doing something right…
"…My overall thoughts on Alabama’s program are very high. The atmosphere they have, the tradition, how much [the] staff cares for the players outside of football. Everything at Alabama was just good to hear.”
Ranked the 12th best EDGE and number 112 overall in the 2026 class by On3, the rich tradition of pass rushers should continue following Matthews' commitment. Even in a down year for defensive prospects from Alabama to the NFL Draft, LB Jihaad Campbell could go on night one.
Matthews is the third recruit to sign with UA from the 2026 class and he choose Alabama over Clemson, Ole Miss, Arkansas, Florida, and Vanderbilt among others.
