Alabama’s attempt at revenge against Tennessee might be a lot harder than expected following injury update from Kalen DeBoer

Derek Meadows is already out and time will tell what happens next with Jam Miller.

When you play in the SEC and wear the Crimson and White, the next game is always the biggest one. But this week is different, because if you checked the calendar, you saw that it’s the third Saturday in October.

Meaning, the Tennessee Volunteers will be headed to Nick Saban field at Bryant Denny Stadium to take on the Alabama Crimson Tide. Arguably the biggest game of the weekend, both of these teams need a W under the lights.

But for Alabama, they are already down one contributor, and could be missing a key playmaker following Kalen DeBoer’s weekly SEC call.

Kalen DeBoer confirms Derek Meadows is out, Jam Miller is questionable

“I expect Derek [Meadows] will be out, and I think Jam [Miller] would be a questionable state for the weekend. When it comes to the report tonight, that’s kind of where I see it at right now,” said DeBoer on Wednesday.

For Meadows, the freshman WR left the game last week after a scary-looking injury that turned out to be a concussion after a targeting call. Miller was hit similarly later in the game, missing the majority of the fourth quarter after also suffering a concussion.

If Miller can’t go, it will be a major blow for the Alabama Crimson Tide. Since he returned against South Carolina, Alabama’s rushing offense has come alive, but especially in the last two games, where Miller is averaging 127 yards from scrimmage and 5.25 yards per carry.

The key to beating the Vols will be keeping their high-flying passing attack on the sideline. This is achieved by winning the time of possession battle through the run game and taking advantage of opportunities in the pass game.

So what this tells me is that Ty Simpson will have to continue his trend of having Heisman moments, and Ryan Williams will need a big increase in snaps after Kalen DeBoer confirmed a suspicion regarding his lack of playing time against Missouri.

We’ll see if they can get it done.
