Hugh Freeze and Auburn Tigers surprisingly in mix to land five star QB recruit, but will have to beat out several SEC rivals
Auburn Tigers setting sights on 2027 five star Elijah Haven amid his fall visits
The Auburn Tigers already have two former five-star quarterback recruits on their roster in starter Jackson Arnold and potential freshman phenom Deuce Knight. However, that isn’t stopping Hugh Freeze and his staff from trying to lock down their future at the position, even beyond both of their current top passing talents.
The Auburn Tigers visited with this young five-star already once this summer, but the possible No. 1 overall quarterback in the 2027 class, Elijah Haven, announced on Friday that he’ll be heading to Auburn this fall for a game in person.
Auburn surprisingly finds itself in mix with five-star class of 2027 QB Elijah Haven as he’s set to visit
For those unfamiliar, Haven debuted as the No. 1 overall player, regardless of position, in the 2027 recruiting class a year ago. He’s still a consensus five-star because of his impressive production, his state finals appearance and 14-1 record last fall, a 6-5, 215-pound frame, cannon for an arm, and slightly underrated mobility.
Haven’s talents have already earned him scholarship offers from most of the top college football programs around the country, and it seems he’s already narrowed his search down to just a handful of options.
For several weeks now, many recruiting analysts around the country have been leaning toward Florida for Haven’s inevitable landing spot, but he announced on Friday that he’ll be heading to six different schools in person this fall: Auburn, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, LSU, and Penn State.
Haven has already spent significant time with his in-state team, LSU, Alabama, Auburn, and Florida, in person during the last two years. Now, it seems he’s expanding his pool of potentials by just a bit.
He’ll be heading to LSU, which plays Florida on Sept. 13, to kick off his string of visits. Then, he’ll see one of the games of the year between Penn State and Oregon. Haven will then see Florida in person for the second time this fall as they face off against Texas. He’ll see Alabama, Georgia, and then finally Auburn to finish the season in the Iron Bowl on Nov. 29.
This recruiting battle still looks like it’s favoring Florida as of this writing, but it’s good to see that Auburn could get the final word late this fall to put an exclamation point on their recruitment of him if they take down Alabama this year. Auburn fans just better hope Jackson Arnold and the Tigers’ offense continue to impress enough to make that happen.
