Philadelphia Eagles general manager Howie Roseman pulled off another trade on Monday, acquiring another great player. This time, it was a deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars for a former Auburn Tigers star player in running back Tank Bigsby.

Bigsby is now the latest example of what everyone hates about the Eagles – their general manager is one of the best in the business. Roseman got a great RB to back up Saquon Barkley, while sending just 2026 fifth- and sixth-round picks.

Former Tigers RB Tank Bigsby and his career with the Jaguars, what he brings to the Eagles

Bigsby was drafted in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft by the Jaguars and had an immediate, if unspectacular, impact. He ran for 132 yards and two touchdowns in his rookie year, behind Travis Etienne. Then, last year, he made an even bigger jump. Bigsby finished with 766 rushing yards and seven rushing touchdowns. However, in the Jaguars’ win over the Carolina Panthers on Sunday, he got just five carries for 12 yards.

It’s clear that this new regime, spearheaded by Liam Coen and James Gladstone, likes the guys they drafted this offseason more than Bigsby, and that’s fine. The Jaguars get draft compensation, along with more snaps freed up for rookies Bhayshul Tuten and LeQuint Allen Jr. behind Etienne.

Bigsby is joining the reigning Super Bowl champions, which is great for him because he has yet to be on a great team in his NFL career. However, the former Auburn Tigers star RB will be behind the best running back in the NFL in Barkley, which will only make it harder for him to get on the field. Now, Bigsby will start his Eagles career behind Will Shipley and A.J. Dillon, in an Eagles RB room that is pretty decent.

He has to learn the playbook first, and when he does, maybe he climbs up the depth chart and becomes the immediate backup to Barkley. Even still, that’s not a big role on he offense unless Barkley gets hurt, which didn’t happen last year at all.

Bigsby is fast and not afraid to run through someone. According to Sports Info Solutions, Bigsby was 17th in yards after contact last season and 12th in broken tackles. So, he’s obviously a guy who can carry the rock and doesn’t go down without a fight while doing it.

Bigsby also had a Hit At Line Percentage of 50.6, which means that on half of his carries, he was hit at the line of scrimmage. He played behind a terrible offensive line, and getting him behind the elite one that Philly has will only help show how good he really is. The Eagles got themselves a dude.
