Spring football is in the books for the Georgia Bulldogs, with many across the country anticipating the team will build upon last year and make its third run at the national title in four years.

And there's a lot to be excited about with players like quarterback Carson Beck in the fold on offense and defensive end Mykel Williams on the other side of the ball. But some are skeptical that the Bulldogs will live up to the sky-high expectations.

ESPN recently named its biggest spring overreaction for the Dawgs, with the network's Mark Schlabach saying, “Georgia’s offense won’t be nearly as good without star tight end Brock Bowers and receiver Ladd McConkey.”

It's true that Georgia doesn't have the same big names with quite as high of a ceiling as Bowers and McConkey offered, but there's always the chance for other players to emerge.

The transfer portal comes in handy where that's concerned, and it's something that Schlabach acknowledges.

“Dominic Lovett and RaRa Thomas should emerge as go-to receivers after transferring to Georgia before the 2023 season, and Dillon Bell is a versatile playmaker as well," he continued.

Lovett showed flashes at Missouri, finishing out the 2023 season with 54 receptions for 613 yards with 4 touchdowns. It's easy to get the sense he could build upon that∞ even further in an offense he's properly utilized in, and he's already made a strong impression in the spring.

But Lovett and Co. aren't the only pass-catchers to watch, though, as Georgia has added more depth that could catch attention.

“Miami transfer Colbie Young looked like a red-zone threat in the spring," Schlabach noted. "Stanford transfer Benjamin Yurosek will give (Carson) Beck another proven target.”

We'll get our first full look at how it all comes together when the Bulldogs face the Clemson Tigers on Aug. 31 to kick off the season.
