Florida Gators 2026 recruiting class down to 2 commitments

Being down to just two commitments is a tough spot for the Gators to be in. They have a lot of irons in the fire with many high-profile recruits. What's really frustrating for the Gators is how much of a setback this is with their defensive backfield.

After secondary coach Will Harris went to Miami, four-star cornerback Jaelen Waters decommitted and followed him there. It was an initial setback, but not a crippling one. They have a lot of potential targets out there that are high on their wishlist, according to Gators Online.

Among those on the Gators’ wishlist are Bralan Womack (Brandon (Miss.) Hartfield Academy), CJ Hester (Cocoa (Fla.) High), Ayden Pouncey (Winter Park (Fla.) High) and Justice Fitzpatrick (Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas).

It's not an ideal spot for the Gators to be in, but it's also not the biggest surprise. Jackson holds a whopping 45 offers across the board and hasn't stopped talking with other schools.

If the Gators can land one or two players from the above list, losing out on Jackson will sting a little bit less.
