The Aggies pose a difficult challenge for the Gators on Saturday
The Florida Gators are set to take on the Texas A&M Aggies on Saturday night, and it’s looking to be an explosive matchup.
When you look at the Gators, they have explosive playmakers on the offensive side of the football. Head coach Billy Napier put his players in a great position to succeed in their 29-21 win over the Texas Longhorns. Quarterback DJ Lagway got his groove back and wide receiver Dallas Wilson had the breakout game the fanbase was begging for.
Talented Aggies’ skill players pose a difficult challenge
It’s not just going to be about the Gators’ offense; the Aggies have a tremendous group of skill players in their own right. Napier commented on them during his Wednesday press conference.
“They’ve got a big, long, tall, long, heavy, powerful offensive line, the tight ends are blue collar and do a nice job on the edges of the formations. And then the two backs, not just [Le’Veon] Moss, but [Rueben] Owens, both those two guys. I mean, I had those two guys at the top of our [recruiting] board here. We know who they are. They were two of the best backs in the country. So you pair that with a quarterback [Marcel Reed] being able to run, and the two receivers [KC Concepcion and Mario Craver] from the portal. You know, they got a great combination of weapons here. It’s definitely a challenge to defend this group.”
This is a very talented offense that can attack you in a multitude of different ways. Reed can attack you through the air and on the ground, which is a big reason why the Aggies boast a 0.21 EPA/play (29th in the nation). That kind of multiple attack could prove critical in attacking down the field, as the Gators showed signs of struggle against the Longhorns, but Arch Manning failed to connect on multiple throws deep when they were wide open.
Napier’s team will need to be ready for an explosive offense that is balanced across the board.
