Former Florida Gators head coach Billy Napier hasn’t been on the job since October 19th when athletic director Scott Stricklin relieved him of his duties. When that happened, the Gators had 19 recruits in their 2026 recruiting class. Going into early national signing day on Wednesday, December 3rd, they still have 18 of them.

The only recruit who has decided to back out of their commitment is four-star running back Carsyn Baker, who took multiple visits after the Gators moved on from Napier. Even with his commitment backed off, Baker is still considering signing with Florida, as new head coach Jon Sumrall is working hard on trying to keep him.

Florida Gators still in a healthy spot ahead of early National Signing Day

The Gators have 18 commits heading into Wednesday. Here is the full list:

Luckily for the Gators, they have been able to keep this class together throughout the process. It speaks to the culture that Napier built over the course of his tenure. It’s been massive for keeping the team and program together as they transition to the Sumrall era.

Throughout the last few days, we’ve seen multiple Gator commits talk positively about the hire of Sumrall, including McCoy reaffirming his commitment, who might be the crown jewel of the class.

It’s a really good class as they currently sit at 13th in the Rivals’ rankings. Sumrall knows there is work to be done.

“I think we’ve got a lot of great players, and I think we’ve really got high character in that class. I think the staff has done a good job,” said Sumrall. “I’m going to fight like heck to hold on to them. I FaceTimed with as many of them as I could last night until I fell asleep [on Sunday]. I’m going to FaceTime with the rest of them [Monday] and get them all knocked out and make sure they know, man, I can’t wait to coach them. I’d love to coach them.”

Wednesday is going to be huge for the Gators, who could lock in an extremely talented recruiting class to help Sumrall build the base of his foundation in the program. One name to watch is Hall, who is seriously considering flipping.

Get your popcorn ready, as Sumrall could have a surprise or two up his sleeve.
