Florida Gators HC Jon Sumrall continues momentum with elite 2027 recruit that Billy Napier started
The Florida Gators are in 2027 five-star quarterback Elijah Haven’s top-four, which is impressive that Jon Sumrall continued the momentum.
New Florida Gators head coach Jon Sumrall has done an excellent job in the transfer portal, and is now making waves with the high school ranks.
The Gators hosted their first junior day with Sumrall as the head coach, and they made waves with a lot of high school recruits. While it’s great to see the Gators involved in the transfer portal like they are, championship teams are built on the backs of high school recruiting classes
Florida Gators in final four for five-star QB Elijah Haven
Per Rivals’ Hayes Fawcett, five-star quarterback Elijah Haven has narrowed down to four schools, including the Florida Gators. They will be competing with the Alabama Crimson Tide, Auburn Tigers, and Georgia Bulldogs.
Haven is the No. 1 quarterback and No. 14 overall prospect per the Rivals’ Industry Ranking, and he’s a fascinating player. From the Dunham School in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Haven has been a target for the Gators since the beginning of his recruitment. They were out in front of the pack for Haven, having Sam Spiegelman and Steve Wiltfong of Rivals logging expert predictions for him on August 11th. Former head coach Billy Napier made him a priority with the idea that Haven could potentially take over for DJ Lagway.
Since then, Napier was fired and Lagway transferred to the Baylor Bears. Even so, Haven has still been on the Gators’ radar for a long time, and they hosted him on October 4th when they hosted the Texas Longhorns, which was an upset victory.
Unfortunately for the Gators, they have fallen behind Alabama on the Rivals’ Recruiting Prediction Machine, as the Crimson Tide lead 78.8% to 18.9%. Falling behind is a tough one for the Gators, but they have plenty of time to pull back ahead.
The Gators’ quarterback situation won’t be a huge negative against them. Sumrall landed Aaron Philo in the transfer portal and four-star Will Griffin with redshirt freshman Trammel Jones Jr. staying in Gainesville. There isn’t anything certain about the quarterback room moving forward, and Sumrall can easily convince Haven he will be the future.
