Florida Gators head coach Billy Napier has done a really good job as of late when it comes to recruiting. Over the last few day, Napier landed a couple of commitments with 2026 three-star defensive lineman Jamir Perez and transfer portal safety Harold Stubbs IV, the brother of true freshman Drake Stubbs.
Not only that, but the Gators are firmly in contention with five-star offensive lineman Felix Ojo out of Texas, who came away very impressed with the Gators this past weekend. The momentum has been building for the Gators when it comes to recruting, and it's continuing on both sides of the football.
Florida Gators 50/50 odds for top wide receiver recruit
One position that has been a focus for the Gators on the recruiting trail the last two years has been wide receiver. Last year, Napier landed two top recruits at the position in Dallas Wilson and Vernell Brown III. They are looking to continue growing the depth at the position, and are in the running for another top end talent.
Four-star wide receiver Marquez Daniel out of Alabama has essentially narrowed his decision down to two schools: Florida and Auburn.
The Booker T. Washington product is currently the nations number 23 wide receiver and the ninth-overall recruit in the state of Alabama. On3 Sports currently has Auburn leading with a 58.9% prediction, as the Gators sit at 32.4%. For context, no other school is over a single percent.
The official visits could be the biggest turning point, with Auburn hosting him on June 6th and Florida on June 13th. He's already been on Auburns campus six times with only three visits to Gainesville. However, the Gators will likely get the last opportunity to make an impression on Daniel before he makes his commitment on July 6th.
Getting Daniel to commit with J. Michael Sturdivant and (likely) Eugene Wilson III on their way to the National Football League would be huge for the future of the program.
