Florida State Seminoles are being punished in a way that everyone in the program will be totally OK with
The Florida State Seminoles are being fined by the ACC after beating Alabama and storming the field.
Field stormings, or rushing the field, is one of the best parts of college football. It’s something that doesn’t happen in the NFL, and allows the fans a unique chance to take in what just took place on the field. However, there are some bad sides to it all, like the fact that the Florida State Seminoles will be fined for the field stormings after their win against the Alabama Crimson Tide.
According to Yahoo Sports, the ACC is fining FSU $50,000 for allowing fans to storm the field after upsetting Alabama.
Seminoles should be OK with punishment after beating Alabama
Two years ago, beating No. 8 Alabama and rushing the field would have been inappropriate for the Seminoles and their fan base. They were 13-0 then, and a team that was expected to at least compete and win those types of games. Before QB Jordan Travis went down, they were a team that many thought could win the National Championship.
After what happened last season, in which the program won just two games, celebrating a win against Alabama at home and fans storming the field is completely appropriate. This win certainly tells two major stories. Firstly, FSU is nowhere near as bad as last year, and could actually be an elite team again. Secondly, it shows that Alabama is not what it once was. Regardless, being fined $50,000 by the ACC is something that the Seminoles will be perfectly fine with.
It’s completely OK for them to celebrate what is a truly triumphant moment after being at one of its lowest points ever. Last season was the Seminoles’ worst season since the 1970s. But this year is off to a bang, and with a win against Alabama, which was ranked in the top 10. The Seminoles are hoping to get back into the mix at the top of the ACC. It’s still early, but their dominant win over Alabama showed that they are a team that should be near the top of their conference.
There is only one other possible game on the Seminoles’ 2025 home schedule that could merit a rushing the field situation. With Miami’s win against Notre Dame in Week 1, the Hurricanes look like they could be a top team by the time the Seminoles play them at home on Oct. 4. If that’s the case, and the Seminoles are still unranked, and FSU beats Miami handily, we could see the fans storm the field again.
But if not, FSU is probably glad they got it out of the way against Alabama, and they will happily take what is really a minor $50,000 fine.
