Georgia Bulldogs star edge Mykel Williams is headed to the 2025 NFL Draft, but he may not be going too far from Athens.
Williams posted on his personal Instagram account this week that he was visiting the Atlanta Falcons' training facility in Flowery Branch for a Top 30 pre-draft visit.
The Falcons, who are in desperate need og edge help, hold the No. 15 overall pick in this year's draft.
Believe it or not, since becoming a franchise in 1966, the Falcons have only selected 12 Georgia players, and not one of them was picked in the top two rounds.
Mykel Williams Shows Toughness after Playing Through a Grade 2 Ankle Injury in 2024
Williams is a straight-up dawg and backed it up by pushing through a nasty left ankle sprain in 2024.
Turns out, Williams was only about 60 percent healthy during his last season with the Bulldogs—something he admitted at the NFL Combine back in February.
"I was injured the whole year, never healthy," Williams said. "I was messed up pretty bad. It was extremely frustrating [with people] not knowing the full story."
Despite playing through that pain, Williams still managed to rack up 21 tackles, including 10.5 tackles for loss, five sacks, 21 pressures, and two forced fumbles in 12 games.
Williams, who opted out of on-field testing at the combine, did mention he feels the healthiest he has felt in a long time. He also said that NFL teams have been big fans of knowing just how gritty of a player he is.
"I have a different type of grit about myself that I can push through pain. No matter how I'm feeling, I can still get it done," he said. "The teams are loving that I did. They said most guys, in the position I was in would have sat down."
We'll see if the Falcons keep Williams close to Athens when the 2025 NFL Draft kicks off next Thursday!
