Nobody loves doubters more than Georgia Bulldogs head coach Kirby Smart and now he has one more to pin to his bulletin board.
During an appearance on "The Ultimate College Football Show" former NFL linebacker and current analyst, Gerald "Smoke" Dixon, gave hi brutally honest opinion on Smart and the Bulldogs in 2025.
"Absolutely. This is it," Dixon said when asked if 2025 will be the year Georgia logs their worst record under Smart. "You just lost your best quarterback in a long time in terms of physical skill set, receivers couldn't catch the ball, so it's not like you improved the receiver spot you got my man [Zachariah Branch] from SC. A playmaker, but not truly a receiver. The running game does not look the same in terms of guys being up front to block and create holes, and your number one running back likes to fumble the ball a lot, and I don't hear a lot of rumbles coming out of coaches ears, especially offensive coaches on SEC saying, 'This is the Georgia defense that they saw a couple years ago when they were rolling in eight or nine deep to stop you, and those corners aren't as sticky in coverage anymore.'
"So yeah, this is it. Not far. But yeah, sorry, Kirby."
Smart's worst record at Georgia was when he went 8-5 in 2016 during his first season taking over as head coach for the Bulldogs. His next eight-win season happened in 2020, though the college football season was shortened due to Covid-19. Other than that, the Bulldogs having had several winning records and won back-to-back national championships in 2021 and 2022 under Smart.
Dixon believes a seven-win season could be on the horizon for the Bulldogs this fall.
"Very possible. Oh, SEC, very possible," Dixon confidently said of Smart going 7-6 in 2025.
You can expect Smart to be somewhere this offseason thanking Dixon for the extra motivation.
