Georgia Bulldogs true freshman running back Dwight Phillips Jr. had not seen action since Week 2's game against Tennessee Tech leading up to the Dawgs' rivalry game against the Florida Gators on Saturday.

In fact, he wasn't even supposed to travel with the team. However, head coach Kirby Smart revealed after the game that Georgia's offensive staff came to him and asked if Phillips be added to the travel roster and put together a special offensive package just for him.

Phillips' moment came in the fourth quarter during a two-point conversion attempt.

Phillips ran the ball for the first time ever for four yards and punched it in for his first career touchdown along the way, marking a successful conversion attempt. The play put Georgia up 34-20 with just over three minutes remaining in the game and ultimately sealed the Bulldogs' victory.

Phillips, a four-star recruit from Pebblebrock High School (Ga) committed to Georgia back in January of 2023. He really made himself a name across the college football world after he ran an impressive 10.29 in the 100-meter race as a junior in high school.

But that wasn't too surprising for some considering athleticism runs his family as his father, Dwight Phillips Sr., is a former 2004 Olympic gold medalist winning in the long jump.

Now that Georgia's star rusher Trevor Etienne is dealing with a rib injury, it's possible we could see Phillips get more touches in the coming weeks.

Phillips wasn't the only true freshman who showed up on Saturday in Georgia's seventh win of the season. Nate Frazier led the backfield with 19 carries for 82 yards and a touchdown.

With the win, Georgia is now 7-1 and will face Ole Miss (7-2) on the road in Week 11.
