As we have covered extensively this spring, Kirby Smart's Georgia Bulldogs are going to have to lean hard on youth and inexperience at some key positions in 2025 thanks to their lack of depth via exits to the Transfer Portal and the NFL Draft this spring.
However, it's clear that Coach Smart and his staff understand their dire need for playmakers in crucial positions because they have been constantly pushing hard on the recruiting trail this spring. The unofficial and official visits are beginning to line up as Georgia looks to be the finalist for an insane amount of recruits in the 2026 class. And this week they locked in yet another key visit with a recruit that they're now a finalist to sign.
Dre Quinn, Four Star EDGE Recruit
Dre Quinn, a consensus four star edge defender recruit and freak athlete announced this week that he will be taking not four, not five, not six, but a whopping seven official visits this summer. That may not sound like he's narrowing it down too much, but Georgia made the list and look like they're in good position to potentially land Quinn.
Since mid-November the Georgia coaching staff has already logged multiple unofficial visits with Quinn as he's become an obvious top in-state priority for Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs. Now they'll visit with him yet against on June 8th (and perhaps once more before then) as they try to land his commitment.
Quinn is actually visiting Clemson again this weekend (of March 8th), and looks set to visit a couple other schools on his short-list this spring, but the Bulldogs have logged more confirmed physical meetings with him than every other school except for Georgia Tech, dating back to last summer.
Thanks to Georgia's mass exodus of talent at edge defender with Mykel Williams, Jalon Walker (also off-ball LB), Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins, Chaz Chambliss, and Damon Wilson all heading off to the NFL Draft or leaving the portal, the Bulldogs actually have one of the best pitches for immediate playing time for their up and coming recruiting classes.
Yes, Gabe Harris and Joseph Jonah-Ajonye (among a few others) boast high pedigree with limited experience at edge too; both should break out this fall. However, the competition at pass rusher is very slim, which could lead to massive opportunity for incoming recruits like Dre Quinn.
There's still plenty of heated battle to be had if Kirby Smart wants to land Dre Quinn as a potentially foundational edge rusher for Georgia, but it seems like the momentum is heading the Bulldogs' way.
