The Georgia Bulldogs appear to be struggling early in the transfer portal window, but they aren’t a team that relies on that success as heavily as most. However, Kirby Smart and company do have their eyes set on a few key transfer targets that could significantly impact their 2026 season.

They’re looking at adding some major players in the secondary (like Khalil Barnes from Clemson), but the wide receiver position could be just as important, if not more. That’s where Jayce Brown, the star Kansas State wide receiver, comes in. Brown just entered the transfer portal and is considering several possible landing spots. The Georgia Bulldogs are one of them, and they should have a good shot at landing him.

Jayce Brown set to visit Kirby Smart and Georgia Bulldogs

Smart just brought in a transfer wide receiver this past cycle and immediately had him break the Georgia Bulldogs single-season record for receptions in Zachariah Branch. He might as well do it again. Branch, Dillon Bell, Noah Thomas, and Colbie Young could all be gone for 2026 (if Branch declares). Yes, there are a handful of tantalizing young wide receivers like Talyn Taylor, CJ Wiley, and more waiting in the wings, but a true WR1 candidate like Jayce Brown could completely change the offense for this upcoming season.

Smart just has to get Brown to choose Georgia over Ole Miss, LSU, Auburn, Kentucky, and Louisville (the other five upcoming visits for Brown).

For those unfamiliar with Brown’s game, he was one of the nation’s most efficient wide receivers in 2025 despite battling injuries multiple times. Brown averaged 2.93 yards per route run, over 17 yards per reception, and over five yards after the catch per reception. Despite his leaner size (6-0, 179 pounds), Brown also caught half of his contested targets on the season, too.

Brown does it all. Inside. Outside. Deep balls. Dominance in the intermediate portion of the field. Georgia and Kirby Smart are right to make him a high priority.

Georgia still has plenty of work to do in the transfer portal and limited time, but it’s good to see that the Bulldogs are at least taking the right shot(s) at wide receiver with players like Jayce Brown. Georgia doesn’t pursue many transfers, but when it does, its hit rate is extremely high. Bulldogs fans should keep an eye on this one.
