The Georgia Bulldogs and Kirby Smart are running a bit behind their usual schedule with their 2026 recruiting class, as they only have five official commits as of this writing, but they're certainly gaining some momentum.
This spring Kirby Smart and his staff continue to find themselves as a high priority unofficial and official visit school or firmly in the top six options for blue chip recruits around the nation. In fact, they're among the top six schools for around 30 different recruits right now. And as of this week, Smart and the Bulldogs can add yet another elite five star recruit to that list who just announced his top six schools ahead of his official visits this summer.
Brandon Arrington, Five Star Recruit
Five star recruit Brandon Arrington has been one of the most highly coveted targets for every major blue blood college football program in the country for over a year now.
The elite two-way player who brings special play to both the cornerback and wide receiver positions has been heavily pursued by Texas A&M, USC, Oregon, and Alabama with a late surge from Penn State this spring. However, shockingly enough Georgia also made his Top 6 too, after almost no reported momentum prior to his announcement. This could mean great things for the Bulldogs.
Georgia offered Arrington somewhat late compared to a few of the other top schools vying for his services, but Kirby Smart and company have just recently started gaining some signs of life with Arrington. Back in January, Arrington confirmed with multiple sources that he would be headed to Georgia for a visit in mid to late March. If the Bulldogs impress him at his unofficial this spring (March 21st) there still might be room for them to lock in a final official this summer.
Georgia fans better hope Kirby Smart goes all in on Arrington this spring. Why? And why is Arrington so highly coveted?
Arrington is the perfect long, physical, and fast cornerback that Kirby Smart's defense always targets. At nearly 6'3", Arrington uses his long wingspan to win at the line of scrimmage, dominate at the point of catch (on both sides of the ball), and lock down wide receivers in tight coverage.
Plus, on top of his height and length, Arrington brings with him state champion level track speed. Arrington won California state track titles in both the 100-meter and 200-meter, and even set some records in the 150-meter too (as you can see in the post below). His athletic profile is truly unmatched in the 2026 recruiting class.
Right now, most experts still believe his best fit is at cornerback and either Texas A&M or his in-state favorite USC is in the lead to land Arrington, but Georgia would be the perfect fit with the best recent track record of sending top talents to the NFL.
Georgia could also likely need him to step in right away if Arrington does choose the Bulldogs given that cornerbacks Daylen Everette, Daniel Harris, and Joenel Aguero might all be off to the NFL next year. That would mean Arrington could slot in opposite another former five star cornerback in Ellis Robinson IV with Ondre Evans potentially moving inside in 2026.
Georgia has the recent momentum. They have the proven pedigree and development. And the Bulldogs defensive may even offer immediate playing time in 2026 regardless of which position Arrington wants to play (cornerback or wide receiver). Don't be surprised if Kirby Smart closes this deal.
