Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs just keep getting more good news on the recruiting trail this offseason. They just locked up yet another Top 3 high school recruiting class for the 2025 cycle. The team continues to find their way into finalist status for elite recruits around the country as they set up a slew of official visits this summer for the 2026 recruiting class.
Now Georgia suddenly has an incredible shot as stacking even more talent on top of their elite 2025 recruiting class thanks to the latest top four star defensive recruit's reclassification decision.
J'Vari Flowers, Reclassified CB Recruit
J'Vari Flowers, a top tier four star cornerback recruit announced on Thursday that he would be reclassifying from the 2026 recruiting class to 2025, as he's wrapping up school early.
Flowers' reclassification follows a growing number of reclassifications around the country as we've just recently seen a number of 2027 recruits announce their move to 2026. However, Flowers' extremely late move from 2026 to 2025 is quite unique. That of course led to a mad dash for his services by schools around the country.
Flowers announced that he'll be taking six quick official and final visits to top programs of choice including Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Miami, North Carolina, and Syracuse. His decision and commitment will come shortly after his final visits in late March.
The Georgia Bulldogs have the second to last visit with Flowers in late March, which could prove crucial in locking in his interest over the "favorite" to land his services. Although Kirby Smart and company have been pushing to land Flowers for over a year it still sounds like Miami might be the favorite, unless something changes.
Flowers plays his high school football in Miami, so it's no wonder he's considering them heavily. However, Georgia is certainly in a great spot to make the right pitch for this potential instant starter wherever he goes.
Flowers boasts wildly impressive ball skills, great instincts, and makes quick reads in all types of coverage (especially off-man). He is a ferocious force as a tackler who doesn't mind making contact at full speed. And on top of being a lights out defender, Flowers is an elite return game weapon too.
And if all of that weren't enough, Flowers is also a state champion track star with verified 10.4-second 100-meter dash times, making him one of the most impressive athletes among all cornerbacks in the nation.
Enter Georgia. The Bulldogs are already going to be leaning on one of the youngest, least experienced groups of players in Kirby Smart's tenure. They might as well pitch to Flowers that he could not only reclassify, but likely earn a significant role immediately after joining the team. Some of the other schools Flowers is considering may not be able to offer that in year one, and certainly not offer a role on a recent two-time national championship winning team.
Georgia just lost cornerback Julian Humphrey to the Transfer Portal, Malaki Starks to the NFL Draft (who played significant slot snaps), and lacked quality play from returning veteran Daniel Harris (who also got arrested on five driving-related charges last year). Flowers could immediately earn time in the slot alongside Joenel Aguero as a true freshman in Athens, and flex outside when called upon.
Hopefully Kirby Smart and company can pitch the immediate playing time, recent cornerback development that's sent players to the NFL, and land this elite four star recruit. They're in great position to have the final word before Miami. That might just be enough, and it would certainly and suddenly help make the Georgia defense a lot better as soon as this fall.
