The Georgia Bulldogs are on the precipice of what should be yet another impressive recruiting cycle for 2026 as Kirby Smart and his staff have been trying hard this offseason to bring in as many elite talents as possible.

They're about to host two potential quarterbacks of the future and the scheduled official visits with most every one of their top recruiting targets are piling up for the spring and summer. The momentum isn't slowing down either. As of this week, the Georgia Bulldogs have locked in yet another official visit with a top in-state elite defensive recruit and it looks like he may be leaning towards Athens.

Khamari Brooks, Four Star EDGE Recruit

Khamari Brooks, a Top 100 recruit in the nation for the 2026 recruiting class who plays his high school football just 20 minutes from Georgia's campus, has set his four official summer visits. Brooks, an elite edge projection who also stars as a tight end announced late afternoon on Tuesday that he will be heading to Athens the weekend of May 30, Alabama June 6, Texas Jun 13, and USC June 20.

Kirby Smart and company have been recruiting Brooks hard since last fall as he quickly ascended from largely overlooked and unranked recruit to a Top 100 player in a matter of weeks. In fact, they've hosted or visited with Brooks nearly a half dozen times in the last 6 months alone. Why are they pushing so hard to land Brooks?

For starters, missing out on a player who lives 30 minutes from Athens with the elite skills Brooks offers is a terrible look. Especially if you're losing him to Alabama, Texas, or even worse USC. But beyond that he brings a rare skill set that Georgia's defense has grown to lean on in recent seasons.

At 6'3" or 6'4", 220+ pounds Brooks comes with the height and length near a Mykel Williams type, but he offers the "wow" athleticism and explosion of a Jalon Walker and Damon Wilson. He can play off the ball, hand in the dirt, or standing up rushing from out wide.

Brooks fits the "defensive weapon" type of player that Georgia fans have grown accustomed to seeing that wreaks havoc on opposing offenses every single week in a variety of ways. The 2025 Georgia roster may not even have a player that truly fits this mold, so there should be an immediate opportunity for Brooks to plug and play from day one in 2026.

Kirby Smart and his staff still have to keep Brooks away from SEC rivals and Alabama and Texas, the two teams who look like they're second and third most likely to land him. However, given all the recent visits and momentum it seems like Brooks could be committing to Georgia here real soon.
