No. 2 Georgia could not pull off the win over No. 16 Ole Miss, falling 28-10 to the Rebels at Vaught Hemingway Stadium on Saturday night.
And now the Bulldogs' playoff chances could be in danger.
Georgia entered the game with an 84 percent chance to land a spot in the new 12-team playoff bracket. With a win, those chances would have spiked to 98 percent but now the Bulldogs have just a 72 percent chance to make it to the post-season.
While Ole Miss' top-ranked defense came to play, Georgia's offense committed three senseless turnovers and failed to capitalize on the Rebels' mistakes over and over again.
Bulldogs quarterback Carson Beck logged one of his worst games of the season, completing 20 of 31 passes for 186 yards with one interception and zero touchdowns. Beck now has 12 interceptions over the last six games.
Georgia doesn't catch a break from here. The Dawgs return home next weekend and will face the (7-1) Tennessee Vols. If they lose that one, then they could lose their playoff slot depending on how things play out for some other teams that week.
Georgia then welcomes (2-7) UMass to Athens in Week 12 and will close out the season against a (6-4) Georgia Tech team that just upset (9-1) Miami, 28-23.
At this point, Georgia has no room for error and needs to win their final three matchups to keep their playoff chances well alive.
