Georgia Bulldogs predicted to land in-state 2027 recruit over several top SEC rivals
The Georgia Bulldogs could be landing an in-state target in the not-too-distant future.
The Georgia Bulldogs are the team to beat for an in-state 2027 recruit that has numerous SEC suitors.
On3’s Steve Wiltfong predicts that Georgia will land a commitment from 2027 three-star linebacker Joakim Gouda.
“Gouda is a major priority for Georgia, I like where the Bulldogs stand and have logged an RPM prediction to reflect that,” wrote Wiltfong. “Auburn, Alabama, Florida and several others are going to work to pull the Rivals300 standout away from the in-state Bulldogs. Chad Simmons has also predicted UGA for Gouda.”
Gouda, 6-foot-2/225 pounds from Douglasville, GA, is rated in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 35 linebacker in the nation and the No. 51 player in the state of Georgia.
Joakim Gouda currently has three official visits set
While Georgia is the team clearly trending for Gouda, the 2027 recruit is committed to going through the process.
Gouda currently has three official visits set — Georgia on May 29, Texas on June 12, and Auburn on June 19 (he could add more official visits).
“Georgia was the first school to really start recruiting me and building that relationship,” said Gouda to 247Sports recently of his interest in the Bulldogs. “They’ve been consistent, and I believe in how they develop linebackers and compete every year.”
Gouda isn’t a highly-rated recruit, but he’s a player with a ton of upside.
“Gouda’s instincts are ahead of the curve,” reads 247Sports’ scouting report on Gouda. “His willingness to play fast, when combined with his physical makeup, gives him a high developmental ceiling. With more technical polish, improved lateral agility, and continued growth in coverage responsibilities, he’s one to watch in the coming years.”
The Bulldogs currently have five players committed to their 2027 recruiting class, which is ranked No. 8 in the nation.
