The Georgia Bulldogs are expected to be without starting quarterback Carson Beck when they play in the Sugar Bowl on Jan. 1.
On Monday morning, Zach Klein of Channel 2 Atlanta reported that he is hearing from "multiple" Georgia sources that Beck has a UCL elbow injury.
"The feeling in talking with multiple sources in and around the Georgia Bulldog football program is QB Carson Beck has a UCL elbow injury and will miss the Sugar Bowl. Still waiting official MRI results from UGA," Klein wrote on X/Twitter.
Beck exited Saturday's SEC Championship win over Texas early after being hit from behind while in throwing motion.
While Beck didn't play at all during the second half and was replaced by Gunner Stockton, he did return for the final snap in overtime.
If Beck's MRI confirms his injury is indeed a UCL elbow injury, then he will undergo surgery and the recovery process is one that takes about 6 to 8 months.
Without an official MRI result, Georgia head coach Kirby Smart couldn't go into detail on Beck's injury Sunday afternoon but he did confirm it was his elbow.
"The elbow area is what we understand it to be. At the time, I didn't know walking off the field. I wasn't sure. It looked like it could be shoulder like it could be wrist," Smart said. "It actually looked like the blow or the contact was to the wrist-slash-forearm area, but the strain or pain was around the elbow."
For now, we continue to wait for the official results.
On the bright side, if Beck can't go, Georgia has three weeks to get Stockton ready for their playoff run.
