News broke on Tuesday morning that former Florida Gators football commit and highly sought after quarterback recruit Jaden Rashada would be suing various parties responsible for his massive $13.85 million NIL deal that inevitably fell apart, resulting in him receiving virtually nothing.

For those unfamiliar, Rashada was committed to Florida for quite some time, but once it became clear that his $13.85 million NIL deal was mainly smoke and mirrors he was left in a horrible spot without a school late in his recruitment. He eventually made his way to Arizona State, playing well in limited snaps, and has since joined the Georgia Bulldogs.

Rashada now intends to sue Florida Gators head football coach Billy Napier and head booster Hugh Hathcock for fraud. Florida is already facing an uphill climb this season due to their schedule with Napier firmly on the hot seat. Now they get a lawsuit headed their way from a quarterback now on one of their most brutal rivals' rosters.

Rashada throw fire on the rivalry

The story that was released via CBS Sports was already bad news enough for Napier, Hathcock, and the Florida Gators. But one line in the story just pours gasoline on the fire of it all.

As you can see via the post from Kevin Clark of ESPN, it turns out Rashada came to Georgia Bulldogs head coach Kirby Smart on the matter, and according to sources "Smart gave his blessing" to move forward with the lawsuit. That should certainly sit well with Florida Gators fans.

Rashada is of course not directly suing the university, as they were not officially tied to his compensation pitch and plan throughout his recruitment. But still, it's hard to separate coach from the brand, and this lawsuit with Napier will now bring Florida under further scrutiny and negative light across the nation.

This should only further intensify one of the most storied rivalries in all of college football. Although it hasn't exactly been a fair fight for some time now thanks to Kirby Smart's dominance as a recruiter, leader, and the ultimate standard in college football coaching.

We'll be back with further details on this lawsuit as they emerge, but for now we can all just have a good laugh together at just how petty college football rivalries can be.
