Georgia Bulldogs star and No. 1 ranked center of the 2025 NFL Draft, Jared Wilson, is headed to the New England Patriots after going off the board in the third round with the No. 95 overall pick.
This pick came after a pair of trades the Patriots made in the third round. First, they sent the No. 77 selection to the Carolina Panthers in exchange for No. 85 and No. 146 (a fifth-round pick). Then, New England flipped the No. 85 pick to the Kansas City Chiefs for No. 95 and a 2026 fourth-round pick.
In his last season at Georgia, Wilson started 12 of 14 games, accumulating 810 offensive snaps. He excelled in pass protection, allowing zero sacks, one QB hit, and five QB hurries over 511 pass-blocking snaps. His performance earned him a second-team All-SEC selection and a 79.4 offensive blocking grade, including an impressive 84.9 pass-blocking grade, per PFF.
The Patriots are currently solid at center with veteran David Andrews, who's held the starting job since 2015. However, that doesn’t rule out Wilson contributing elsewhere on the offensive line, especially since he has experience playing guard.
Jared Wilson Plans to Buy a Snake with NFL Paycheck
While other rookies are spending their first NFL paycheck on a new house or cars, Wilson has something else on his mind.
Moments after his name was called, Wilson revealed just how much he loves snakes.
"I like snakes," Wilson said when asked to name a fun fact about himself. "I don't think a lot of people know that, but I love snakes. When I was 12, my 12th birthday, I think my mom got me a ball python that I had for about maybe 6-7 months and then we were moving in with our granddad and he was like, "yeah no, that's not coming in my house," and I begged him for about a week and I just had to give it away."
Wilson was then asked if he had since bought a new snake.
"No, but I will when I come up there," Wilson said.
